Bikers and Spinners,
Just wanted you all to know how last Sunday’s (9/20) ride went…
It went Fabulous!
After all the tears and flood of emotions, I was able to settle in and enjoy a beautiful day and a wonderful ride with my extended family!
Thank you all for your tremendous outpouring of love and support!
Even if you couldn’t make it, I knew you were there in spirit!
We all made it into Frenchtown and back safely!
I did the smart thing and took my own advise, listen to your body! I didn’t want to push it too much and Stephen Polin was kind enough to SAG for the group so I kept him company for the ride back. (plus I didn’t want to keep everyone from the spectacular food at the Stockton Market!)
I just had my 14th week Biopsy and checkup on Wednesday and everything looks good so far! Couple tweaks on my meds, but other then that, my transplant team is pleased with how well I’m progressing. I am a quarter of the way through my adjustment (break in) period. It takes at least a year or more before my body gets use to this stronger, more efficient "NEW HEART" and my "NEW HEART" gets use to a body that hasn’t had a good pump and got lazy over the past few years. It’s like me having a 4 cylinder engine (old heart) being replaced by a V8 engine (new heart) and my body going “hey wait, slow down! We can’t keep up!” and my “NEW HEART” saying “come on! Get off the couch, we’re going for a 100 mile bike ride!” My body just laughs until I get on my bike then it knows we’re serious and has to get back to strength training and conditioning.
I just can’t thank you all enough for helping make this possible!
Keep 'em Spinnin',
Bill S
