About Us
Bikers and SpinnersTM is primarily composed of (but not limited to) "Bikers" who enjoy recreational road and trail bicycle riding and "Spinners" from local area gyms in the Bucks County, PA (suburban Philadelphia) area.
Our goal is to encourage new riders to learn skills that will ensure that they have enjoyable and safe riding experiences when they are out on their bicycles.
We welcome all cycling enthusiasts who want to participate in "social" group riding. All of our rides have a “No Drop” policy - we sometimes split the group if there are riders of different abilities or when some are looking for a more challenging ride, while others are seeking a more laid-back pace and/or route.
If you are NEW TO CYCLING and want to learn how to ride safely (either as an individual or in a group), are seeking advice on how to bicycle more efficiently, need help with finding equipment (for spinning or cycling) or want to join other riders and experience the cycling camaraderie of a group social ride, please let us know!
We always ride with a "No Drop" policy and our pace and level of difficulty is geared to accommodate both newer riders and those seeking a recreational ride.
If you are an EXPERIENCED CYCLIST and would like to mentor less experienced riders, we will help you to learn the skills that can help you "give back" to those just starting out. Or simply join us to have an opportunity to do a recovery day ride.
Our cyclists participate in many different "Event Rides" throughout the year including:
· Fund Raising rides for major charities - ACS "Bike-a-thon", ADA "Tour de Cure" and MS150 "City to Shore");
· Local bicycle club sponsored event rides - Central Bucks Bicycle Club (CBBC), Suburban Cyclists Unlimited (SCU), Lancaster Bicycle Club and White Clay Bicycle Club; and,
· Rides that benefit local organizations that provide programs, goods and services to the community.
Our season starts in January. Many of us participate in Bill Soloway's WintervalsTM and/or Guy's Bicycles Winter Training Series. Both are group indoor sessions that run through the winter months and give us a good conditioning base for our early Spring Group Rides beginning in March and Local Event Rides that begin the end of April.
Wednesday Night Rides (weather permitting) usually start by mid May and end in early October.
Weekend Rides (weather permitting) often take place when there are no Local Event Rides.
Watch for updated Wednesday Night and Weekend Group Ride information posted on our Bikers and Spinners website's home page.
Please contact us for one-on-one coaching if you are not ready to participate in a group ride.
After the riding season ends, we look forward to the annual Bikers and Spinners dinner held in the beginning of November. This is a time to enjoy the company of your Biking and Spinning friends and their partners, remember memorable rides and view pictures and videos of our group taken throughout the riding season.During the months of November and December most of us "take it indoors" to cross train and Spin or workout at home on our trainers. Unless of course the weather stays warm over the late fall and winter months!
We value and welcome your input on how to make our group rides contribute to accomplishing your cycling goals.
